Gavia pacifica Length:63cm/25" Wing Span:90cm/36" Weight:1.7kg/3.7lb

The Pacific Loon is common along Pacific coast and on tundra breeding grounds; rare visitor elsewhere in North America.

This bird is smaller than the Common Loon and stockier than the Red-throated Loon, but best identified by details of head and neck pattern: dark grey nape with straight border on side of neck, and little or no whit around the eye. If has a croaking and relatively high, strident, yodeling call.
